The radio’s high-impact ABS case virtually guarantees long life.
Batteries should last 30 to 40 hours at moderate volume through the unit’s single speaker and slightly longer on the included ear bud headphones. Pocket use was taken into account even at the level of ear bud manufacture: if you put your radio in your pocket, it’s less distance to one ear than to the other, so one side of the headphone cord is accordingly shorter. The DT200V runs on 2 AA batteries, not included.

I recently purchased this radio as a gift for myself.I am mostly happy with it.It is quite small, about the same size as a pack of cigarettes.It takes two AA batteries so it does have some weight to it.It slips easily into a front or back pocket of your jeans/pants.A small removable rigid belt clip was included but I found it useless as it did not swivel.Overall build quality is nice, does not look or feel cheap.
I have found reception pretty good.I will try to explain.I had a Sony SRF-M37W Walkman before this radio.The Sony worked OK , I could never get ANY AM stations , just got static.It could get a few FM ( My fav NPR came in so I was happy) I recently changed work locations and the Sony could not get ANY stations in at my new location (10 miles west of previous location) With my new Sangean I can get numerous AM stations in very clear (more than my car radio parked outside)FM is also coming in very clear (just not the one I was really seeking) I walk all around a large building as I use this radio and it holds the station well.
The included earbuds wire functions as the antenna for the radio.They also include a separate antenna wire that goes in the headphone jack when you want to use the external speaker…Though I just keep the earbuds plugged in and use those as the antenna when I want to listen to the external speaker. It’s very easy to switch between speaker and headphones.The included earbuds are acceptable in quality.As other reviews have noted the bud portion is quite large so they are not the most comfortable.My advice wait till you try them for yourself to see if you need to replace them. The external speaker is a nice feature but sound is not the best.It’s not very loud and has a fuzzy sound to it…Again very acceptable and a nice feature to have but it’s not going to WOW you with it’s sound quality.
Battery life is good but if you plan on being a heavy user rechargeable batteries might be helpful.It does shut off after 90 minutes to save battery life.There is way to override that feature explained in the owners manual.It also has a button lock to keep you from accidentally changing stations.
My only real quibble is that the radio has a rounded bottom so setting it down to stand on its own is impossible!
Overall I am quite happy with my purchase.
Note regarding my reception area: I use this product in the Western Suffolk County /South Shore area of Long Island about 45 miles East of NYC.

This model appears to be the same as the TH42PZ85U and was purchased from COSTCO. Ever since purchasing a Panasonic SD9 high definition video camera I have been wishing to upgrade my TV to the HD format. After looking at many LCD and Plasma televisions I found myself drawn to the Panasonic Plasma HDTV. After a six month wait I took the plung and purchased the 42″ Panasonic 1080p HD set. I haven’t used it for regular television broadcasts yet, but have set it up to play my Blu-ray player(also a Panasonic), an HD player and a DVD recorder. The footage that I have shot with the Panasonic HD camera is nothing short of STUNNING on this set! Watching this footage reminds of the days of 70mm presentations in movie theatres when we saw stunning images from films like “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Sound of Music”, “West Side Story”, etc. The Blu-ray, HD and HD video all have incredible color, brightness and sharpness. The Panasonic Plasma was not difficult to set up and I’m am very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended!

If I did not review this product before its because it was a gift for my wife, as a non portable TV in the kitchen. According to her its sensational and I think so too. It took x Times Warner Cable techs y hours to connect it. I had already done that but they redid my work. Great TV. Only complaint- the manual is opaque and there is little on line support. Just set up last night so I don’t know about longevity. But watching TV last night I was very pleased with all aspects of this unit. Channel surfing was not an issue. I’m running off of cable and the set pulls in a number of digital channels that are an added bonus. I tried the DVD and found the picture to be outstanding and really didn’t hear the noise that has been mentioned by others. The set has many of the technical advantages (ATSC tuner, 1080i picture) that more expensive sets have and at a lower cost. Perfect for a smaller bedroom.

First, I printed the Quick Installation Guide and the Users Guide found on the CD, I read them over before starting and it then took about 30 minutes from start to watching TV on my Toshiba Satellite A45-S130 laptop. I live about 70 miles from Minneapolis and am able to view all of he major HDTV stations located there. Totally, I found 26 channels when I did the scan.
After reading some of the negative comments I was afraid the tuner might not work. I believe the secret was to follow the directions exactly as stated.
Well worth the price.
